The Class 8 truck industry ended 2013 on a high note with about 31,800 new orders in December, a 50% jump from the same month a year earlier, ACT Research reported.
Last month’s net orders tally was a 50% increase from November’s total, according to ACT’s preliminary data.
“This is the time of the year when the large fleets and leasing companies are in the market, and large Class 8 order volumes are most likely. As such, an above-trend number was expected,” Kenny Vieth, ACT’s president and senior analyst, said in the Jan. 3 statement.
